6 months ago I subscribed to EarthLink web hosting
to provide service for my personal web site. Being in
the military and 3500 miles from home, it gives us a
place to post photos of our girls so their grandparents
can keep in touch with them. So the web site was very
important to me. I chose EarthLink because I have had
them as an ISP for well over 8 years and was very satisfied
with them. A quick call (I was on hold for over an hour!!!)
and they assured me my site would be ready in 5 to 7
business days (set up time they said). After waiting
the week I still did not have a site and contacted their
customer service (again, almost an hour wait). Of course,
they couldn't help me because it was a "technical"
problem and I would have to hang up ("No we can't
transfer you") and call technical service. About
30 minutes later a technician quickly informed me that
there had been an error in processing the order and
it had never been entered into their system, oh, and
please wait another week for your site. This went on
for over a month and still no site (by the way, I was
billed for the whole month of hosting even though there
was no site).
Fed up I called and cancelled the service and demanded
a refund. All in all I spent well over a month and countless
hours on the telephone with nothing to show for it other
than high blood pressure.
The day after I cancelled, I telephoned FullServiceHosting.Com.
The phone was quickly answered, no holding, and I was
treated very nicely and told that my site would be available
shortly. Before I got home from work that day my site
was up and running - no problems, no hassles, and no
excuses. Over the past 3 months that you have hosted
my site I have had to contact you several times for
assistance. Each time my request was quickly acted upon.
I can not thank you enough for the outstanding service
which you are providing me and my family with. Your
personal service and dedication to your customers is
greatly appreciated. Please accept my warmest thanks.
I've changed my billing to yearly increments because

I would like to share their solution with you:
Dear Sir/Ma'am,
Thank you for contacting technical support...what you
will need to do is use this formmail script. ...This
is the script that will execute your submission and
sends out your e-mail.
We are still working on your domain name pointer and
will be contacting when this has been setup.
After talking to them for hours on the phone, I am
still Sir/Ma'am!!! They advertise FrontPage all over
their HomePage then end up suggesting that I give up
on FrontPage and use their Perl script!!!! And they
still haven't got my pointer setup.
Sorry, I had to get that off my chest as I have been
putting in way too many hours dealing with what you
made seem routine. Thanks again!! |
